Dance America Nationals April 24 and 25

Dance America Nationals for the girls was an awesome ending to a great dance season. Friday night was solo night, and they both did fabulous. Poor Averie got docked for her technique being "too good for her category", but ended up taking fourth place with a High Gold even after her deduction. It was interesting, and they told her to take it as a compliment...uh-huh like a 9 year old understands that. But I told her it was the best I had seen her perform and that is what her goal was all along. Alyssa received Platinum for her solo (no one in her category so she didn't get a place) and at the end of the night she also won $40 for Best Choreography of the day. Although the choreography was not her own, you have to nail it or it doesn't look good, so I was so proud of her! Our team competition was on Saturday and the girls did awesome! Alyssa's teams got 3 1st places and 1 2nd, and Averie's got 3 1st places and 1 2nd. It was a fun weekend!
